Interesting selection. I'm glad to see Point Hope on there. I bought the download from Sony years ago, but when i changed computers I couldn't get the license without paying for it again which I refused to do. And some of these songs are hardly rarities. I mean come on! Ghost? Rare? Beautiful and haunting, yes. But not rare. There is one song on there that I dont recognize at all, Walk Your Valley. Does anyone know anything about this? Is it new, a cover that I somehow missed, or something really, really old that I somehow missed?
Anyway, I'm really looking forward to it. I'm excited to have good recordings of Winthrop and Finlandia and I can't wait to hear this new (?) song.

I've been a huge fan since 89', and my kids grew up with the girls. They are playing the Portland zoo, and my kids get to go for the first time! What better family experience is there!? -

i've been listening to it today and there's so much that i didn't have before... and some things i didn't like so much before that i really enjoy now- specifically the Tom Morello remix of Shed Your Skin. I wasn't too into it when I first heard it, but I've been repeating that track quite a bit.
"Ghost" and "Free In You" are alternate versions- "Ghost" is a demo and "Free in You" is a remix... seems like it's geared more toward mainstream radio, but I sorta like it.
The new song, "Walk Your Valley", though? ah, maybe this is just an early impression & maybe it will grow on me, but as I was listening to it I was thinking it may be my least favorite Emily song. And I love me some Emily, too. I dunno- maybe it will improve with time, but lyrically it doesn't hold up with her usual work for me and vocally it sounds really off, somehow.
That being said, the rest of the cd is fantastic. I'm glad that they included one of my all-time favorites- "I'll Give You My Skin" from the PETA Tame Yourself benefit disc. I've always thought it was an under appreciated song- very haunting and moving. It was also great to hear "Winthrop" and "Free of Hope"- both songs that I have seen mentioned, but never been able to hear.
Anyone have any songs they wish would've made the disc? All that comes to mind is "Blood Quantum" from the HONOR1 cd. -

Mon, September 19, 2005 - 11:39 AMI've been listening to it for about the last week or so. This album really shows the breadth and depth of these amazing artists. The alternative versions of some of the songs we know and love are really refreshing. They're not all "hits", of course but I would definitely recommend this to anyone who considers themself a fan. They just keep on giving.
