Re: amy ray new cd "prom"
Fri, April 8, 2005 - 1:20 PMI put the promo poster in the photos section. Amy Ray dressed up as a cheerleader is something I never thought I'd see! I'm pretty excited about her solo tour. I'm going to the LA and OC shows. I almost bought a ticket for SF but managed to restrain myself. (sigh) -

Re: amy ray new cd "prom"
Tue, May 3, 2005 - 1:36 AMSO! I saw Amy tonight at the Fox in Boulder. IMO, the show was way too short... and lame. And, mind you, I fucking love AR. But, the show was an hour! This is her *second* solo CD; she has no excuse for not playing ALL the songs plus some covers. But maybe I'm just spoiled. I live in Boulder: the land of the 4 hour+ show that never costs $15.

Re: amy ray new cd "prom"
Wed, May 4, 2005 - 7:10 AMOh, that's too bad. She's coming to Seattle Friday night, but I've decided not to go. I'd rather save my money to see her and Emily play together this summer, where I know I'll love all the music! -

Re: amy ray new cd "prom"
Wed, May 4, 2005 - 8:26 AMI saw Amy during her "Stag" tour, and liked it! She has a different approach to her music by herself than with Amy, and as a long time fan of the Girls, it took me a while to get over that. Once I embraced the raw nature of Amy's individual style, I got into the groove. As for a not-so-good show, that happens to EVERY musician at some time or another.
Last summer the Girls played the zoo here in Portland and I couldn't go, which REALLY bummed me out because I wanted to take my kids to see them for the first time! I've seen then a dozen times and wasn't going to go unless we all could. After the show, a friend of mine who went told me she was really dissapointed. She said they were very low in energy and maybe even sick. I have never seen a show from them I didn't love(unless you count the 4 songs they played on the Lilithe tour:) It goes to show you that the best musicians can have a bad day together, as well as apart! -

Re: amy ray new cd "prom"
Wed, May 4, 2005 - 9:58 AMDuring the Stag tour I flew to SF to see the two shows at Slim's because there were no shows around here. Those shows were amazing. I was never saying that I wasn't a fan of Amy's solo stuff; I'm actually more into it than I am into IG anymore (I used to be rabid, but it's just faded for some reason).
I think the big difference is that the Butchies aren't her band this time. At the Slim's shows, the Butchies did an opening set AND played as her band. This time the opener was Family Outing. They were pretty mediocre I thought, and had none of the charm, charisma or lesbian campiness that the Butchies do. Then Amy comes out and plays for just an hour. It was too disappointing for words. I was really mad that I paid $15 and was leaving a show at 11 p.m.
